WebDevBoston is me, Bruce Ishikawa, working with designers from Simple Fly Design in Miami. We also have a team of independent developers that take on specialized tasks or overflow work. I will be your single point of contact and will manage the project in addition to doing much of the work myself. You will enjoy the quality and scheduling benefits of a team while not having to worry about dealing with and managing a group of people.
I am a highly experienced software developer who is trying to escape the rat race. I am a web developer/project manager by profession but I also have a wide range of other interests, am well-traveled, speak three languages, have been a professional musician, all of which provide a deep, rich background and insight which I share with my clients. I am selectively accepting freelance projects which are a good fit for my team's skills.
I have decades of development experience, with the past ten years spent exclusively on web projects. I have worked on large ecommerce sites like bose.com and staples.com as well as many smaller sites like moaflnsu.org, latinosinternacional.com, mandarinoriental.com, and diningin.com. I work primarily on back-end development, but can handle basic design tasks.
We work mostly in Joomla and Virtuemart which are robust, flexible and suitable, sometimes with modifications, to perform the many specialized functions that our clients require. Our team has done a lot of work in Joomla, including creation of new components and modules and some heavy modifications to Virtuemart. We have intimate knowledge of the Joomla/Virtuemart packages and know exactly how to set up and adjust them to meet your requirements.
In addition to my development skills, I have a strong business background which enables me to offer a perspective and insight that you won't find in the cut-rate code houses. I have worked as a project manager and while I prefer managing the machines to managing people, I understand the importance of clear goals, meaningful deliverables and meeting budgets and schedules.
